That’s Show Business: If there’s no business like show business, then there may be no lunch like a barbecue lunch at Showbiz Ribs, which is coming soon to Sixth and Olive streets. Although no official debut date has been set yet, owner Tony Katsaras estimates service will begin in a few weeks. Katsaras, by the way, is also a music producer and actor whose credits include the role of “Policeman” in the 1991 special effects thriller F/X 2 The Deadly Art of Illusion.

He promises there will be no flavor illusions in his barbecue. “You can expect the best barbecue you’ve ever had because I make my own sauce from scratch. It’s a secret sauce,” he told Restaurant Buzz. “When you walk in the restaurant it’s got nothing but photographs of actors and everything. I’ll have a big marquee up there too.”

If his barbecue is as good as he promises, Restaurant Buzz foresees it inspiring a sequel to F/X 2: BBQ/3 The Return of the Sauce, starring Katsaras as Nicky Ribs, a streetwise restaurateur in search of the gang of criminals who stole his secret recipe. He’ll get help from his sidekick buddy Officer Cole Slaw. Okay, we’ll stop now.
    At 520 W. Sixth St., (213) 439-5700.

Showbiz Ribs is a hit! Everything we tried was great. The babyback ribs, Vermont mac & cheese, garlic feta french fries, feta olives, beef ribs, cole slaw, everything phenomenal! I will definitely recommend Showbiz Ribs to my family, friends and coworkers. Tony is a great host and entertainer. Welcome to Downtown!!!!

Thanks to Showbiz it’s not only popcorn that can silence the crowd. It’s the ribs too!! The work gang and I were utterly impressed and will surely be back for the sequel (Whatever it may be). The tag goes something like this….”Just when you thought the ribs were enough..Here comes Mr. Mac & Cheese and his butt kickin’ buddy HOT Link!!” Showiz is a definitely a double feature for the matinee price. Thanks again Tony and in the words of Arnie…”I’ll be back!!”
